Amy delighted to be setting up home in the village she grew up in

AMY Faulder thought she would never be able to buy a house in her home village of Lazonby.

Houses in the picturesque village don’t come on the market often and, when they do, they’re ‘very expensive’, in Amy’s own words.

So imagine her delight when she heard Genesis Homes was building 59 new homes at our Wakefield Gardens development in Lazonby, and that a proportion of the properties were designated as affordable housing to help local people get on the property ladder.

Amy became the first occupant of the development last week and she is still pinching herself that she’s settling into her dream home.

She told us: “I was brought up in Lazonby and I love the village, but I never would have been able to stay in the village if not for the affordable housing initiative. Houses don’t come up for sale very often around here and when they do they are very expensive.

“When Genesis Homes first started building here, I had moved back in with my parents but was looking to move out so I put my name down straight away.

“I can’t believe how straightforward and quick the whole process has been and I’m over the moon that I’m able to buy my first home on my own in the place I grew up.”

Lazonby is situated less than 10 miles from the market town of Penrith and boasts enviable views of the North Pennines, something which Amy is particularly enjoying.

She said: “When I look from my window, I’m staring directly over the fells and I get the most amazing views.

“I’m so happy to be in the house as the development is lovely, we have stunning views and Lazonby is such a nice place to live.”

Wakefield Gardens, named after Thomas Wakefield who was stationmaster at the village’s railway station between 1890 and 1898, is a stylish development mixing a range of two to five bedroom new build homes.

The homes on this exclusive development in the desirable village of Lazonby are all stylish properties incorporating a high specification and high energy efficiency levels.

Wakefield Gardens allows easy access to local shops, services and amenities, with Lazonby including a local school, Co-op, pub and a railway station connected to the scenic Settle to Carlisle Line.

There is something for everyone at our Wakefield Gardens development from our amazing 5-bed Whillan to our 3-bed Gelt homes, and the 4-bed Eden property to the 2-bed Dee bungalow.
