We are delighted to share that Genesis Homes has been named a finalist in the Best Community Involvement category at the 2026 in-Cumbria Business Awards, recognising our growing commitment to supporting the communities where we build homes.
Over the past year, we have introduced and rolled out a community engagement programme across Cumbria, supporting local schools, clubs, community organisations and initiatives, while creating new opportunities to make a positive and lasting contribution in the areas where we operate.
Our Head of Communities & Engagement, Lauren Allison, has led the development of the community programme over the past year, working alongside colleagues across the business to deliver a growing range of initiatives. From volunteering and community projects to sponsorships, educational engagement and local partnerships, colleagues from across Genesis have played an important role – contributing their time, expertise and support to projects on the ground.
One of the key developments has been the launch of Next Gen, Genesis Homes’ dedicated school engagement programme, which aims to inspire the next generation about careers in construction while strengthening connections between new developments and the schools and communities around them.
The scale of Genesis Homes’ community activity is reflected in the figures with £22,770 being invested into community activities between October 2025 and April 2026. For the business, community involvement is about building strong relationships, understanding local needs and creating a positive legacy in the places where we build.
Lauren Allison, Head of Communities & Engagement at Genesis Homes, said:
“Being shortlisted for Best Community Involvement is fantastic recognition of what has been a really exciting year for community engagement at Genesis Homes. It’s so important that we become part of the communities where we build homes – whether that’s supporting grassroots sports, getting involved with schools and youth clubs or fostering a sense of community on our developments themselves with events – these values have quickly become embedded into what Genesis Homes stands for. With plenty more to come to life over the next 12 months, we’re really excited about building on what we’ve started and creating even more opportunities to make a lasting, positive impact across the communities we’re proud to be part of.”
Genesis Homes will find out whether it has won the Best Community Involvement award at the in-Cumbria Business Awards on Thursday 12 November at The Halston in Carlisle.
We’re also proud to be supporting the awards as sponsor of the Apprentice/Newcomer of the Year Award, celebrating the achievements of emerging talent in Cumbria. With Genesis Homes shortlisted for an award and sponsoring another, it promises to be a special evening for the team. Fingers crossed for November!
