We are delighted to be an official sponsor of the Cumberland Walking Football League for the 2026 season.
As a well-established local housebuilder, Genesis Homes is committed to investing in the communities it serves. This collaboration reflects a shared vision between the ourselves and Cumberland FA to promote wellbeing and community cohesion.
The partnership marks a significant boost for the league, which continues to grow in both participation and impact across the county, providing inclusive opportunities for players to stay active, connected, and involved in the game. Genesis Homes’ support will help strengthen the league’s ongoing development, ensuring it remains accessible and sustainable for players of all backgrounds.
Since its formation in 2019, the Cumberland FA Walking Football League has experienced continued and sustained growth, providing a slower-paced version of the game while retaining both its competitive edge and strong social appeal. The league has expanded to two divisions, featuring 12 teams and engaging over 250 players, with clubs and sessions now established across a wide range of venues throughout the county. This growth has also seen teams proudly represent Cumberland on the national stage, competing in the FA Walking Football Cup Finals.
Speaking on the partnership, Football Development Officer, Ray Sempill, said:
“We’re really pleased to welcome Genesis Homes on board as a sponsor of the Cumberland Walking Football League. Their support is a fantastic endorsement of the work taking place across the county to make football more inclusive and accessible. Walking Football provides vital opportunities for people to stay active, improve their wellbeing, and remain connected through the game, and this partnership will help us continue to grow and develop those opportunities further.”
Lauren Allison, Head of Communities & Engagement at Genesis Homes, added:
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Cumberland FA’s Walking Football League, enabling local people to come together and enjoy a sport they love. At Genesis Homes, we’re passionate about integrating with communities and having a positive impact in the areas where we build. Having current developments in Carlisle, Burgh-by-Sands and Seaton, in particular, this partnership allows us to directly support people close to our developments and as well as people across Cumbria. We’re delighted to be part of this fantastic initiative and are excited to see the teams in action this season.”
The sponsorship will come into effect immediately, with Genesis Homes branding to feature prominently across league activity and communications.
