Cumbrian housebuilder Genesis Homes hit a hole-in-one for a great cause, raising almost £3,000 at its biggest ever charity golf day, all in aid of CRY for Eden, part of the national Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) charity.
Held on Friday 27th June at Penrith Golf Club, the popular event saw 92 players from an array of local businesses. There were building contractors, financial advisors and solicitors all battling the Cumbrian elements for a day on the fairways, followed by an evening of live music, hearty food, and prize-giving.
Highlights included the winning team from Carlisle Brass taking home the trophy, with players from Housing Growth Partnership, JT Atkinson, and Genesis Homes scooping prizes for ‘nearest the pin’. Plus, Joe South from Roann wowed the crowd with the day’s longest drive.
The golf day was part of Genesis Homes’ mission to raise over £14,000 this year for their chosen Charity of the Year, CRY for Eden. The Penrith-based charity provides vital screenings for local people, aged between 14 and 35, helping to detect irregularities and save lives. Other fundraising activities so far have included team bake-offs, a red and white day, and the plans don’t stop there, with a show-stopping masquerade charity ball in October amongst other events.
Nicky Gordon, Managing Director of Genesis Homes, said: “Every year, I find myself standing back and admiring this event with immense pride and this year was no different. It was amazing to see so many local businesses and individuals come together to support CRY for Eden. Thank you to everyone involved, the money raised will help provide life-saving heart screenings for young people in our community.”
Genesis Homes extends a huge thank you to everyone who participated, donated, or supported the event, and looks forward to making an even bigger impact with the upcoming charity ball later this year. You can find out more about the Charity Ball here.
