Council hails Genesis Homes for high quality of work

It was with delight that we were singled out for praise by councillors for our planning application at Carleton, near Penrith, who commented on our high standard of building work and desire to support the local community.

Eden District Council’s planning committee unanimously approved our Reserved Matters application for the creation of 82 new homes at Eamont Chase, in Carleton, which will help address a need for more homes in the area as identified in the Eden Local Plan.

As reported in the Cumberland and Westmorland Herald, planning committee vice chair Cllr Debra Wicks, the leader of the Eden Conservative Group, said she was delighted to see a housebuilder use local tradespeople to develop properties in the Penrith area. She also praised Genesis Homes for the quality and aesthetics of its building work.

During the meeting, Cllr Wicks said: “It is nice to see a proposal coming forward with a sustainable element.”

This praise was justification for all the hard work we carry out at Genesis as we strive for excellence in everything we do.

We take great pride in the quality of our work in creating the highest specification of homes, and it is pleasing to gain recognition from the people who make the decision on which developments are approved.

As a local business, we feel honoured to be able to provide employment to local people and it all helps keep the economy going.

Eden District Council’s planning committee was also impressed with the green credentials of the application after councillors heard that 5,000 square metres of amenity space would be created along with other ecological features.

A wildflower grass area will be created and various trees and shrubs will be planted throughout the development, while footpaths will be constructed to allow residents to enjoy the visually attractive green spaces.

Eamont Chase will comprise a range of two to five bedroom houses and bungalows and is located close to the River Eamont, giving residents stunning views of nearby Brougham Castle and Lowther Castle.

Providing plenty of green space and amenities for the residents and wider community is something we strive to achieve, and we are pleased to be able to do so with this development.

One of our key aims is to offer green open spaces and recreational areas at all our developments, and we want to encourage more people to enjoy the nature on their doorsteps by creating safe walkways and cycle routes through these green areas.

We pride ourselves on providing high specification, energy efficient homes and we choose our locations very carefully, and we know there is a real need for more housing within the Eden Valley.

As well as its picturesque location, Eamont Chase boasts great transport links due to its close proximity to the M6 and A66.

The development is also just a mile-and-a-half from Penrith, meaning there is great access to local amenities, such as schools, shops, pubs and restaurants.

The site has been designed to create a pleasant residential environment with all the benefits of community life and facilities, providing ample employment opportunities in the process.

Outline planning permission for up to 96 dwellings was approved in 2018 by Eden District Council.
